I'm Charles Mishalany, electric and  upright bassist. My family and I have been a part of the Marietta,  Georgia community for over fifteen years. Previously, we lived in Los  Angeles, CA for over twenty-seven years but moved out East to be closer  to family members. Having had three teaching studios in So Cal as well  as regular performances, I naturally continued both my performance and  teaching careers in GA. As a result, my years of work now enable me to  offer both students and bandleaders the benefits of my experience.

As a seasoned, professional bassist and bass teacher on both the  acoustic and electric bass, versatility is my strength. I cover a wide  variety of musical genres from R&B, big band and ensemble jazz, Top  40 pop/dance/rock, Latin, reggae, contemporary Christian, country, blues  and orchestral.

I've performed with artists such as Oscar winner, Isaac Hayes, jazz drumming legend, Louis Bellson, Gold record, Christian artist, Rick  Founds, Tom Booth, Cooper Tisdale, Madoca, Chariya Bissonette, members  of Oingo Boingo and many more. I've also opened for bands such as  Sublime, Sugar Ray, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, VooDoo Glow Skulls,  Skeletones, Hepcat and the Skatalites.

As regular weekly work, I also  perform with different Top40 corporate and wedding bands as both a sub  and regular member. I have also played for different praise and worship  teams. Calvary Chapel, Laguna Niguel, Mt. Bethel UMC, in Marietta and  Bethel United, UMC in SW Atlanta have been home for the last 23 years.

My experience also includes numerous musical theater productions, live  and recorded television broadcasts (Live it Live weekly television show (3 years), Channel 5 with Gale  Anderson), movie soundtracks (HBO), TV commercials (Lexus car), national  and international touring with corporate bands and cruise ship gigs.

In addition to live performances, I do studio work, recording mostly  for up and coming artists who have gained record deals and artist  development deals for labels such as Def Jam/Island Records.

With all these years of professional, performance, I am able to offer my students the added knowledge of my real world playing experience which goes far beyond that of the teacher who has only known the classroom environment.
